Shelfmates is made by Socrates ONE LLC. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and how to remove it. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run a shared game shelf, we don't show ads, and we don't sell or share your data with advertisers.
What we collect
- Account details. When you sign in with Apple or Google we receive a display name, an email address (which may be a relay address if you choose to hide it) and a stable account identifier from that provider. We do not receive or store your password.
- Your content. The groups you create or join, the games on your shelf, game night dates, RSVPs and votes.
- Tips. If you leave a tip, the App Store or Google Play processes the payment. We receive a purchase record so we can show a thank you badge. We never see your card details.
- Technical logs. Our server keeps standard request logs (IP address, time, endpoint) for a short period to keep the service running and to diagnose problems.
What we don't do
- No advertising, ad networks or tracking SDKs.
- No selling, renting or sharing of personal data with third parties for their own purposes.
- No location, contacts, photos or other device data.
Who can see your data
Members of a group you belong to can see your display name and the games you've added to your shelf. Nobody outside your groups can see them. There are no public profiles.
Third parties we rely on
- Apple and Google for sign-in and in-app purchases.
- BoardGameGeek for board game information. Searches send the game title you typed to BoardGameGeek; they do not receive your identity.
Where data is stored
On servers operated by Socrates ONE LLC in the United States, with encrypted connections and nightly backups retained for 30 days.
Deleting your account
Open the app, go to the Me tab and choose Delete account. This removes your profile, shelf, RSVPs and votes immediately. Backups age out within 30 days. You can also email support@socrates-one.us and we'll do it for you.
Children
Shelfmates is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a meaningful way we'll update the date above and mention it in the app.
